My objective in developing the "heavy duty winder" was: to design a winder that was relatively inexpensive for the non-professional, to have enough power & torque to wind spectra on big game reels, to be used for a wide variety of fishing reels, to breakdown for easy storage & transport, and simple in design with a minimum amount of parts to get lost.

After almost 2 years of endless research, testing, prototyping, materials, fabrication processes, production and stress analysis, etc. The Sato Heavy Duty Winder was born. Recommended Drill Motors

The following drills have been found to work the best in filling spectra onto a reel.
The amp rating is important to match up with the foot switch.
The foot-switch is rated at 6 amps.
